The Pittsburgh Pirates will mark the 40th anniversary of playing in Bradenton, FL when they open their 2008 spring training schedule on Friday, February 29th at home against the Philadelphia Phillies. McKechnie Field in Bradenton, FL ©WorldsBestDeals.com The first game of the 2008 Grapefruit League season begins the previous day in Clearwater, FL against the Phillies. The 32-game schedule consists of 16 home games, as well as the annual Manatee Community College exhibition charity game.

The Pirates will host the Cincinnati Reds in the first-ever night game to be played at McKechnie Field on Friday, March 7 (game time is 7:05). The Bucs will also take advantage of the new lights that have been installed at the 85-year old ballpark with a second night game scheduled for Wednesday, March 19, against the New York Yankees at 7:05 p.m.

Other highlights of the home schedule include:
• Annual Manatee Community College exhibition charity game (Wed., February 27)
• A visit from the World Champion Boston Red Sox (Sun., March 16)
• Two games against the New York Yankees (Wed., March 19 and Sun., March 23)

Match-ups against the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees will be Gold Level games. All other games will be Red Level. Individual game ticket prices will be as follows: Box Seats: Red $16 Gold $18 Reserved: Red $15 Gold $17 Grandstand: Red $9 Gold $10 The McKechnie Field box office will open on Saturday, January 19. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The box office is open on all game days starting at 9:00 a.m. and closes 30 minutes after the game. Beginning on January 26 fans may call 1.877.893.2827 to order tickets by phone. Convenience charges apply to phone orders. Tickets can not be purchased by calling the McKechnie Field box office. McKechnie Field is located at 17th Avenue West and 9th Street West Bradenton, FL 34208 1/2 mile west of Highway 41 on 9th St. (Bus. 41) at 17th Ave. Day games start at 1:05 PM and night games at 7:05 PM Practices start at 9 a.m. at Ed Smith Stadium and Bradenton Sports Complex, before exhibitions begin. From North (St. Petersburg): Go over Skyway Bridge to Exit 2 (19 South). Continue on 41 South. Make a right turn onto 17th Avenue West and continue to McKechnie Field. From South: Take Route 41 North to Cortez Road, go straight onto Business 41 and turn right onto 17th Ave. West. Ballpark is located at intersection of 17th Avenue West and 9th Street West. From Interstate 75: Exit I-75 at S.R. 64 West (exit 42 if traveling south, exit 42B if traveling north). Go west on Route 64 to 9th Street West and turn left to the ballpark.
