The Oakland Athletics hold their spring
training in Phoenix, Arizona. The A's 2008 spring
training schedule
opens February 28 against the Brewers at Maryvale. The A's will play 26
Spring Training games in preparation for the 2008 season, including 23 games
in Arizona beginning with the Cactus League opener against the Brewers.
In addition, Oakland will play two exhibition games against the Yomiuri
Giants and the Hanshin Tigers of Nippon Professional Baseball on March 22
and 23 in Tokyo, Japan preceding the regular season opener on March 25
against the World Champion Boston Red Sox in Japan Opening Series 2008.
The A's will play a total of 12 home games at Phoenix Municipal Stadium,
beginning with the home opener against the Brewers on Friday, Feb. 29. The
A's and San Francisco Giants will meet six times during the spring: three
times in the desert (Mar. 1 and 7 in Scottsdale; Mar. 15 in Phoenix) and
three times in the Bay Area (March 28-30).
The Chicago Cubs make four appearances on the A's Spring Training slate
(Mar. 6 and 8 at Phoenix; Mar. 11 and 19 at Mesa), while the A's will face
the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim three times in the desert, with the first
game slated for Monday, March 3 at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
The A's will break camp in Phoenix and fly to Tokyo, Japan following
their split squad games against the Angels and Cubs on March 19.
