The defending National League East Division Champion New York Mets will open the home portion of their 33-game, 2008 spring training schedule against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, Feb. 29 at 1:10 p.m. ET at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The Mets exhibition schedule begins Tuesday, Feb. 26 against the University of Michigan in Port St. Lucie at 12:00 p.m.

The world champion Boston Red Sox will visit the Mets on March 10 at 1:10 p.m. New York also travels to Ft. Myers, Fla., to play the Red Sox the following day at 1:05 p.m.

Joe Torre and the Dodgers will make two trips to Tradition Field, March 1 at 1:10 p.m. and March 5 at 1:10 p.m.

This spring, the Mets will play the Cardinals and Orioles five times, the Marlins four times, the Dodgers, Nationals, Indians and Braves three times and the Astros and Red Sox twice.

New York has two split-squad games scheduled. On March 8, the Mets host the Marlins at 1:10 p.m. and play the Baltimore Orioles in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., at 1:05 p.m. On March 16, the Tigers come to Port St. Lucie for a 1:10 p.m. contest and New York travels to Kissimmee, Fla., to take on the Houston Astros at 1:05 p.m.
