Cleveland Indians Spring Training

The Cleveland Indians hold their 15th and final spring training in Winter Haven, Florida near Orlando. The Indians 2008 Spring Training schedule includes 15 home games at Chain of Lakes and 17 road games, including a pair of exhibitions that will be played against the Braves at Atlanta's Turner Field on March 28 and 29. In 2009, the Indians will begin spring training in a new complex currently under construction in Goodyear, Ariz.

The exhibition season will commence with a Feb. 28 home game against the Astros, and the road slate will begin the following day -- leap day -- when the Indians leap over to Kissimmee to face the Astros again.

Noteworthy dates on the home schedule include a March 8 game against the NL East champion Phillies, a March 25 matchup with the Yankees and games against the division-rival Tigers on March 2 and 11.

All told, the Indians will play two home games against the Tigers, Astros, Braves, Mets, Rays and Nationals and one each against the Blue Jays, Phillies and Yankees.

Following the March 27 home game against the Rays, the Tribe will break camp and head north to Atlanta. That pit stop will be followed by the club's home and season opener, March 31 against the White Sox at Jacobs Field.
